Policies

Below is a copy of the rental agreement equipment that renters are required to sign. Please complete the rental equipment agreement soon after you submit your rental order. If not, you will be required to sign the document when you pick up the order.

 


EQUIPMENT RENTAL AGREEMENT

I agree to adhere to all the policies of Norris Outdoors not stated herein, including, but not limited to, the policies listed below.

GENERAL POLICIES

  1. All equipment is rented “as is”. Damages not pointed out by the renter at checkout time will be assumed to have been caused by him/her. I understand that Northwestern makes no warranty, expressed or implied, concerning the equipment, including but not limited to fitness for purpose intended or merchantability.
  2. A list of possible damages and the minimum charge is posted in Norris Outdoors. If the damage is judged to be more severe than the “average” considered in setting the charges, Norris Outdoors reserves the right to assess a fee to cover the cost of repairing the damage, up to and including the full retail replacement of the item.
  3. Additional fees, for cleaning and/or improperly returning equipment before or after business hours will be assessed at the discretion of the attendant or in accordance with posted practices.
  4. Each piece of equipment returned after its scheduled return time is subject to the rental rate for each day. Equipment must be returned before 5:00 PM on the scheduled return date or You must pay the late fee!

REFUND AND CANCELLATIONS

  1. Cancellations must be made 48 hours in advance of the pick-up time in order to avoid a fee (1-3 day rate) or in order to receive a full refund regardless of the cause. (This does not apply to reservations made less than 48 hours before rental date.)
  2. Equipment will be examined and inspected upon return and the renter will be notified of any outstanding damage fees within one week.
  3. NO REFUNDS on equipment returned before the specified date on the reservation form.
  4. NO REFUNDS on equipment rented but not used.
  5. NO REFUNDS given due to inclement weather.
  6. You are responsible to pay for the replacement of this rental equipment if severely damaged, lost or stolen.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

I, the undersigned, hereby agree to the rental of equipment from Northwestern University under the following terms and conditions:

  1. To pay the sum of rental fees indicated on the equipment rental checkout form at the rates posted.
  2. To release Northwestern and any of its agents and employees from liability arising out of or in connection with the rental of said equipment, and hereby indemnify. hold harmless and DEFEND Northwestern University, its agents and employees of and from any loss, cost, damage, expense, injury, or death arising or alleged to have risen out of or in connection with its use of said equipment, together with any legal and related expenses which may be incurred by Northwestern in defending any such claim.

I agree to be responsible for any damage to or loss of the equipment during the period of this agreement. I further agree to return the equipment in the same condition as it was at the time of rental. If I fail to return the equipment or if the equipment is returned in a damaged condition, I authorize Norris Outdoors to directly charge my credit card or my Northwestern University Student Finance Account if I am enrolled at Northwestern during the present quarter and the next subsequent quarter. I agree that Northwestern may take any action it deems necessary including withholding of transcripts, registration, or legal action to obtain the amounts which remain unpaid.

I have read and agree to abide by the terms, conditions and policies detailed on the rental agreement and the equipment rental checkout form(s).
